Emola-Hatsina String Band

The instrumental ensemble formed by Esa Kuloniemi (guitars, equipment) and Antero Mentu (sitar, guitars, equipment) simultaneously offers both semi-acoustic avant-garde guitar playing in John Fahey style and electro-noise in the style of Sperm or Popol Vuh. Another significant element that adds its flavour to the ensemble’s sound is the careful use of North Indian modalism, which engages in a natural dialogue with more Western influences in the duo’s hands.
