Night of the Arts: Urban Pictures
Sointi Jazz Orchestra immerse themselves in Helsinki sceneries at their Night of the Arts concert where they will play around Villa Hakasalmi. Entry to the event is free of charge.
The concert delves into the interaction between a jazz orchestra and the surroundings. It is inspired by the exhibition at the villa: How do the layers of Helsinki history sound? During the evening, we will hear new original compositions that will take us from the nostalgic moments preserved in black-and-white photos to the soothing buzz of the city and the pulse of illuminated billboards. During the performance, you can move freely to see the ‘A Glimpse of Helsinki’ exhibition showcasing the photos by Volker von Bonin. The event will end with a performance by the whole jazz orchestra at the backyard terrace of the Villa.
The concert is curated by Tytti Arola, Henri Lyysaari, Nicolas Rehn and Rasmus Soini. In addition to them, music for the concert was composed by Aleksis Liukko, Kenneth Ojutkangas and Oskari Siirtola.
