Songs about Love and Losses

The lied duo formed by mezzo-soprano Marle Himberg and pianist Erik Johannes Riekko will perform songs by Barber, Pylkkänen, Sibelius and Brahms. The overarching theme of the performance is love and the pain of loss that comes with it. These emotions are described through nature for the most part. The poets featured include greats such as James Joyce, Aino Kallas and J. L. Runeberg. The songs by Sibelius will commemorate the 160th anniversary of his birth.
