Christmas present party
The tradition of Christmas present parties will be recreated at Villa Hakasalmi. Come and relish the festive atmosphere by attending workshops, listening to fairy tales and enjoying music. Free entry.
Christmas presents were often handmade in the 1800s, and leading up to Christmas, people would start to be in a hurry to finish their crafts in time. Young women would then convene and weave and sew together all night until the early morning hours while happily chatting and enjoying entertaining programme, refreshed by coffee and pastries. The tradition of Christmas present parties will be recreated in the beautiful Glamour and Curtsy exhibition at Villa Hakasalmi, with atmospheric halls and rooms where you can enjoy an old-timey Christmas programme and finish your unfinished crafts or simply enjoy the ambiance.
You can make candies for the Christmas tree, play guessing games and come up with rhymes for Christmas present poems as well as marvel at and practise textile labelling. You can listen to Christmas fairy tales by Topelius read out loud in the large hall, enjoy traditional live Christmas music and, of course, indulge in coffee, sweet buns and gingerbread.
Free entry to the event.
