Classicism in Etu-Töölö Architecture Walk
Welcome to the Classicism in Etu-Töölö walking tour. The tour will be held in Finnish.
The walk will focus on Finland’s most significant 1920s residential area, Etu-Töölö. The area uniquely combines a detailed plan based on medieval city models with an elegant building stock representing Nordic classicism. The focal points of the tour include the surroundings of Temppeliaukio, Oksasenkatu, Museokatu and the so-called Sonck block between Runeberginkatu and Mechelininkatu. However, the natural pièce de résistance of the tour is the most important single construction project of the era, the Parliament Building. The tour will also give an introduction to the art deco blocks on Välskärinkatu. The tour will end at Töölö Church.
