Kantele concert

The rich kantele tradition of many nations as well as the variety of instruments and tunes are the starting points of the music performed in this concert. The matinée features kantele artists Timo Väänänen, Hanna Ryynänen and Nea Wunsch from Finland as well as Kristīne Tukre and Justīne Žilde from Latvia, who play not only the Finnish kantele but also the Latvian kokle, the West Siberian nares-jux and the gusle, an archaeological discovery that is a cross between a lyre and kantele.
