The Maid Turned Mistress
La Kala, operating in Sumiainen, is most likely the smallest opera house in Finland and well-known for its impressive and high-quality productions. La Kala Opera will present its Finnish-language adaptation of the opera La serva padrona by Giovanni Battista Pergolesi as a guest performance at Villa Hakasalmi.
The opera was first performed in Naples in 1733. The piece became the model for the opera buffa genre, i.e. comic opera, and an essential piece that still delights us with its storytelling today. The lord of the manor, Uberto, is simply awaiting his morning cup of hot chocolate, but his wily maidservant Serpina serves it to him with her own side dish: a wedding with Uberto! And a promotion from maidservant to mistress!
The opera stars Kari-Kyösti Silvennoinen (Uberto), Marie Finne-Bray (Serpina) and Tero Hirvelä (Vespone). The opera is accompanied by Outi Jussila on the piano.
The concert is included in the price of admission (€16/11), no separate fee. We accept the Museum Card.
