Helsinki City Museum, Tram Museum and Villa Hakasalmi opened to the public on Tuesday June 1st 2021.The popular photography exhibition Ismo Hölttö – Encounters in 1960s Helsinki continues at Hakasalmi Villa, and the exhibition period has been extended until October 31st 2021.
Helsinki City Museum’s Children’s City opened again on Thursday July 1st 2021. Located in the Sederholm House on the corner of Senate Square, the Children’s City is free of charge. The other City Museums exhibitions opened earlier in June.
The City Museum’s seasonal museums Burgher’s House and Worker Housing Museum opened to the public on Friday July 9th 2021. The seasonal museums are open until Sunday October 3rd The Burgher’s House is the oldest preserved wooden building in the city centre. The house offers a glimpse of everyday life and living in the home of a minor civil servant in 1860s and 1970s Crown Hall. In the museum’s small rooms in Alppila, you can take a peek into the history of everyday life in Helsinki. The homes’ stoves, washing mats and pull-out beds illustrate the life of working-class families in the different phases of the 20th century. Free admission to the spraymaster’s house and the Workers’ Housing Museum.
