In the autumn you get to experience manor life in the 1800’s
In the upcoming exhibition, you will get to know the upstairs and downstairs folks, and the story characters who lead you through the joys and sorrows of manor life in Central Uusimaa from the 1860s to the 1880s.
“Glamour and Curtsy – Upstairs and Downstairs Life” opens on Friday, October 25th at the Villa Hakasalmi. In the upper floor of the villa, the glittering costumes and impressive interiors of the gentry will be on display. The dining room’s decor includes furnishings from the Stansvik Manor, which visitors will have the chance to see for the first time on such a wide scale from the collections of the Helsinki City Museum. The downstairs will present the lives of maids, farmhands, and other servants. The experiential exhibition is produced by Susanna Eskola and designed by Tarja Kunttunen. Graphic design is by Tuija Kuusela and text content by Anna Finnilä. The exhibition and program are produced in collaboration with the museums of Central Uusimaa.
