Tips for the winter holiday season
Villa Hakasalmi brings some sparkle to the darkest season. We compiled some tips for the winter holiday season from concerts and ghost tours to traditional Christmas present party.
Attend the Christmas present party on Tuesday evening 17 December from 18.00 to 21.00 to make crafts while enjoying the festive atmosphere at the villa, Topelius’s fairytales and live music. You can bring your own crafts project or participate in workshops to make sweets for the Christmas tree and pen some Christmas rhymes. Free admission.
Admission to the Glamour and Curtsy – Upstairs and Downstairs Life exhibition will be free on Friday 29 November and 27 December at 11.00–17.00. You can take a guided tour of the exhibition on Saturday 7 and 14 December as well as after Christmas on 27 December, 2 January and 4 January.
You can enjoy Christmas matinees at Villa Hakasalmi on Sundays at 14.00–15.00 starting from the first advent. Come along and sing and learn more about the history of Finnish Christmas carols on Tuesday 10 December at 18.00–19.30 guided by researcher Jere Jäppinen and Emeritus professor Reijo Paijamo. The events are included in the price of admission €16/11. We also accept the Museum Card.
Most exciting Christmas gift idea this year
Get tickets to the Villa Hakasalmi ghost tour for yourself and your loved ones. The guided tour includes ghost stories about the villas in the Helsinki area and takes visitors backstage of the Glamour and Curtsy exhibition. The tours are in Finnish. Tickets to the 2025 tours are available now.
Pop by the gift shop and do some Christmas shopping while enjoying the scent of quality coffee enjoyed by the gentry, lollipops, peppermint candies and the master’s cognac mustard. The shop is open at 11.00–19.00 on Tuesdays and at 11.00–17.00 on Wednesdays to Sundays.
Gingerbread workshop and Christmas meals
Come along and participate in a gingerbread house workshop and enjoy the delicious Christmas lunch at the Rakastan café on Saturday and Sunday 14–15 December. The café in the courtyard is open from 11.00 to 17.00 on Tuesday to Sunday.
