Glamour all summer
There’s still plenty of time to visit the exhibition Glamour and Curtsy – Upstairs and Downstairs Life, open until Sunday 31 August. Admission is free on the last Friday of each month: 27 June, 25 July, and 29 August from 11 am to 5 pm. Guided tours are offered on Thursdays 7 and 14 August and during the final open weekend, 30–31 August from 2–3 pm.
Live Music and Opera
Live music fills the villa every Sunday at 2 pm. This summer, performers include Opera Association Fantasia, pianist Janne Oksanen, mezzo-soprano and landscape painter Maria Rosina Jaakkola, pianist Sari Blå, and tango trio Trio Kiero.
The mini-opera Coffee Cantata will be performed at Villa Hakasalmi on Saturday 2 August at 2 pm.
Likely Finland’s smallest opera house, La Kala Opera from Sumiainen, brings its Finnish adaptation of Giovanni Battista Pergolesi’s La serva padrona to Villa Hakasalmi on Saturday 23 August at 2 pm.
Musicians from the Finnish Chamber Music Society will perform short concerts every hour during the Night of the Arts on Thursday 14 August, starting at 5 pm. The music will evoke the world of 19th-century manor houses. Free entry from 5 to 10 pm.
