As an observer

The concert is structured around two song cycles by Robert Schumann to present the worries and dreams of female narrators from spinning rooms to thrones. Op. 107 Sechs Gesänge is a series of captured moments of suppressed emotions and storybook-like scenes, which is paired with the dark but impressive Gedichte der Königin Maria Stuart.
The programme also features songs by Pauline Viardot-García, Franz Schubert, Alma Schindler-Mahler and Nadia Boulanger, in which glimpses of the outside world and memories of the past add colour to the narrators’ modest spheres of existence. The matinee will feature Emilia Juvonen (mezzo-soprano) and Sonja Honkamaa (piano).
The concert is included in the price of admission (€17/11), no separate fee. Free entry for under 18-year-olds and Museum Card holders.
