ImproLied

The music of this matinée will be created on the spot as a dialogue between piano and vocals. The fully improvised pieces will be built on communication between the musicians, the acoustics of the room and the presence of the audience. This approach is based on a centuries-old tradition of lied music, in which storytelling plays a central role. In the concert, storytelling will be the starting point for free-form improvisation: the duo will create new musical narratives without any sheet music, using elements of contemporary music and experimental playing techniques. If they wish, audience members can bring their own poem to be used as the basis for improvisation in the concert. The matinée will feature musicians Heliä Mailiis Viirakivi (soprano) and Eemeli Solehmainen (piano).
The concert is included in the price of admission (€17/11), no separate fee. We accept the Museum Card.
