Matinees at Villa Hakasalmi
The beautiful hall at Villa Hakasalmi has excellent acoustics, which is why we are having matinee concerts featuring all kinds of music there every Sunday at 2 pm. You can enjoy matinees for the museum entrance fee of 12/10 euros. Free entry to those under the age of 18 and museum card holders.
Sun 1 December at 2 pm The start of the Advent
Baritone Matti Vilppola and pianist Aino Heimonen get in the Christmas mood by performing seasonal songs from J. S. Bach’s Christmas Oratorio to Irving Berlin’s White Christmas. The programme also includes many beloved Finnish Christmas classics.
Sun 8 December at 2 pm Alilo
Tevri, a group performing Georgian songs, will perform traditional polyphonic Georgian Christmas folk songs, folk songs from all corners of Georgia and liturgical Georgian songs and church hymns.

Pianists Cecilia Oinas and Anna Kuvaja will include performances of pianist and composer Clara Wieck-Schumann’s (1819–1896) piano four hands programme as well as fruits of the virtuoso culture of the early 19th century and the works of Felix Mendelssohn, Johannes Brahms and, of course, Robert Schumann, who were all close to her, in their lecture concert. Wieck-Schumann’s only original piano four hands work, March in E-flat major (1879), will also be heard in the concert.

Doctor of Musical Arts and mezzo-soprano Seeli Toivio, an international cello virtuoso from Lahti, will play J. S. Bach’s cello suites for solo cellos on her instrument, which is more than 200 years old, and sing the most popular Christmas songs while accompanying herself.
