Nocturnal encounters

Soprano Meri Siirala and pianist, Music journalist at Finnish National Broadcasting Company, Lotta Emanuelsson have curated this concert program around the themes of the extraordinary art exhibition of Stefan Bremer. The night wanderer in the city encounters amazing, charismatic yet fragile characters living and breathing the new zeitgeist. These characters wander in the twilight and the darkness of the night socializing and partying, and some sneaking away with their loved ones. The nocturnal solitary walks around the city streets and parks evoke profound existential questions in the wanderer’s mind.
Each composer in the program has been inspired by these themes. In addition to the Helsinki based composers Heidi Sundblad-Halme and Aarre Merikanto, the program features music by Richard Strauss, Joseph Marx, Alma Mahler, Lili Boulanger, Hugo Wolf, Claude Debussy, Gabriel Fauré, Henri Duparc and Franz Schubert.
The concert is included in the price of admission (€17/11), no separate fee. We accept the Museum Card.
