Shadows and light – fantasies and sonatas

The matinee by pianist Sandra Landin takes the audience into a world of deep emotions and strong contrasts. Dora Pejačević’s Sonata-Fantasia opens the concert with its rich expression, followed by Frédéric Chopin’s dramatic Sonata No 2 – a timeless work that still speaks to the listeners, especially through its famous funeral march. The second scherzo by Chopin brings virtuosic energy and intensity to the show. The elegance of baroque is reflected in Johann Sebastian Bach’s and Alessandro Marcello’s Adagio, and the performance ends in the present day with Francesco Bortoluzzi’s Fantasia, based on a well-known melody by Rolf Løvland. The past and the present come together in this delicate yet impressive performance.
